I recently heard Melyssa Griffin talking on a podcast about how creating content is the most important thing she does for her business. Between her Facebook group, blog, courses, and membership, I would have to agree. But what do you do when it feels like the content your audience needs is taking over your life? It could take hours to finish what you need for one week.

That’s why I believe in repurposing. By repurposing one piece of content, you can create much more without the hassle. This blog is specifically for entrepreneurs who share video or podcast content with their audience, but it can be applied to anything you create.

I’m going to show you how you can repurpose a video or whatever content you have into all the different pieces of content you need to be sharing with your audience each week.

Repurpose A Video (or Podcast) For a Week’s Worth of Content:

This is the process I use to take one piece of content and repurpose it into additional valuable content. Once you have at least a rough draft of your video or podcast, you’re ready to get started.

1. Repurpose a Blog

The number 1 way you’ll want to repurpose your video or podcast is into a written blog. This will effectively double the number of people you’ll be able to reach. There are a few ways to do this. If you’re only concerned about SEO, a transcription is a quick and easy route to go, but you won’t always get high-quality blogs from this. The way we speak is pretty different from how we write. For a well-written blog that flows and attracts new audience members, it’s time to really repurpose.

Listen to your video or podcast and find a number of tips to share or a way to convey the main points into a written piece. You’ll probably take some of what you say exactly, add in other pieces, and re-write to get the flow you want. Of course, you don’t have to do this on your own! It’s an easy thing to have someone, like me :), do for you.

2. Make a Newsletter

Once you have your content completed, you’ll want to tell your current audience about it. Newsletters are a super simple way to do that, plus they keep you top of mind. If you find it hard to come up with new newsletter content each week, keeping it easy with a blog update is a good way to start.

I like to go with the format of an introduction, few sentences about your post, maybe even a sneak peek quote, and a call to action to read the blog. You can use this newsletter to tell your audience about your podcast and blog or video and blog at the same time or you can tell them about a new blog you created sharing the top tips from your video.

3. Social Media Posts

Now that you’ve created a blog from your content, why not use that to whip up a few social media posts? Start with headlines from your titles and add in a quote or thought on why your blog is useful.

Plus, think about how much easier it is to share a blog on social media than a podcast. You’ll grab those potential audience members who may not be into the podcast world.

4. Content Upgrade

To get the most out of your content, you’ll want to create a content upgrade. Use your content again by making an action guide or checklist to create something fast or listen to the content again to get inspired. This is an important step if you’re interested in growing your audience and have a list to sell to.
